Sian is the mother of Amy, a 22 year old girl with profound disabilities and complex health needs. Amy was her inspiration for creating Swings & Smiles in 2006, having identified the need and importance of a local play facility where the needs of the whole family, who has a family member with special needs, are met. Sian’s background is in business management mostly with Cadbury Schweppes. More recently, she trained as a cookery teacher and is also a cookery writer.

"When Amy was nine, I realised how few opportunities and facilities existed for families such as ours. It’s unacceptable that we as a family would need to travel some 40 miles just to play, something most families take for granted, having a number of options on their doorstep. I vowed to do something about it, so Swings & Smiles was born!"
